Indomitable Lions: Here’s how Samuel Eto’o convinced Bryan Mbeumo to join the team

In a recent interview, Bryan Mbeumo revealed how Samuel Eto’o influenced his choice of national team career. The young Cameroon striker also had the opportunity to play for France, but opted for Cameroon after being approached by the president of the Cameroon Football Federation.

Samuel Eto’o met Bryan Mbeumo in a London restaurant in 2022 to convince the young player to join the Cameroon national team. It was during this meeting that the African football legend gave Bryan some advice, which eventually bore fruit.

Since 2023, Bryan Mbeumo has started his career with the national team and has 16 titles to his name, scoring 4 goals after opening the scoring in the match between Cameroon and Angola on Matchday 4 of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Luanda on Tuesday 11 June 2024.
