The Association des Entraîneurs et Encadreurs de Football du Cameroun (ACEEF) recently sent a letter to the President of the Cameroon National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSC), expressing deep concern about the future of football in Cameroon. At the heart of their concerns is the Conciliation and Arbitration Commission (CCA), whose actions, according to ACEEF, threaten the stability and development of football in the country.
Meanwhile, the Union Camerounaise des CLUBS Amateurs de Football (UCCAF), which represents 800 clubs and is the only union officially recognised by FECAFOOT, has also taken a stand by sending a letter to the CCA through the president of the CNOSC.
This letter not only contests the decision taken by the CCA, but also denounces the usurpation of votes by 60 individuals who are not members of FECAFOOT to represent amateur clubs. In their correspondence, the members of the two associations stressed their role as genuine players in Cameroonian football, duly recognised and represented within the general assembly of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT).
They strongly condemned attempts by certain former football officials, whose involvement in the past has either been sanctioned or is now over, to disrupt the affairs of FECAFOOT under the presidency of Samuel Eto’o.
ACEEF’s statement comes at a time when football in Cameroon is beset by internal tensions, marked by conflicts of interest and power struggles. FECAFOOT has recently been rocked by scandals of corruption and mismanagement, leading to the opening of an investigation by the relevant authorities. In an effort to restore confidence and promote dialogue, they reaffirmed their commitment to the development and promotion of football in Cameroon, while respecting sporting values and the established rules.
