After an unsuccessful Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, the Indomitable Lions are hoping to bounce back against a team that excelled in the competition. However, the environment is unfavorable for the national team, who entered training camp last Sunday amid tensions between the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education (MINSEP) and the Cameroon Football Federation (FÉCAFOOT).
Win at all costs!
These tensions have led to a number of unprecedented incidents, such as the Indomitable Lions’ infamous morning stroll in their home clothes, as well as the deprivation of equipment and materials for the national team.
While it was expected that these problems would have been resolved by now, uncertainty persists as to how the national team will present itself this Saturday at the Stade Omnisports Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaoundé. Who of the technical staff appointed by Samuel Eto’o and those appointed by the Cameroon government will receive accreditation?
This question remains unanswered. On the pitch, the points to be taken are of vital importance. In a group with teams like Angola and Cape Verde, who put in fine performances in Côte d’Ivoire, it is important for the Indomitable Lions not to drop any points at home.
Objective: take the lead in Group D
Cameroon have also lost the lead in Group D in the last 48 hours. This was the result of Libya’s 2-1 victory over Mauritius last Thursday and Angola’s 0-1 win over Eswatini last night. These victories put these two teams at the top of the group with 7 and 5 points respectively, ahead of the Indomitable Lions and the Blue Sharks, who both have 4 points.
To maintain their position in the group, the Indomitable Lions need to win. A 20-year-old player is already eagerly awaited by the public and the people of Cameroon.
