With over 26 years’ experience as a coach, starting in 1998, Marc Brys had never had the opportunity to manage a national team before, having always been in charge of clubs. Currently in training for over 5 days with the players of the Cameroon national team, he is discovering the unique responsibilities and sensations associated with managing one of the best national teams in the history of African soccer.
Despite the tensions between the Minister of Sport and the President of the Cameroon Football Federation, Brys remains focused on his mission and refuses to let political issues get in the way. At his first press conference as coach, he affirmed that he, his staff and the players remain apolitical and are simply asking to be allowed to do their job, stressing that this is the most important thing.
In addition, the 62-year-old strongman expressed his admiration for the exemplary reaction of his group of players since their reunion last Sunday, describing them as remarkable in terms of solidarity, placing them even above all the other groups he has managed in his 25-year career. The Belgian coach is therefore more convinced than ever that the team will be ready to win the forthcoming match thanks to their concentration and discipline.
