“Despite the obstacles, the Indomitable Lions managed to preserve the essential point: the draw that keeps them top of Group D. A great Cameroon team is being built and we will certainly be present at the 2026 World Cup finals, perhaps with an African Champions title in our pocket,” says Hamadou Babba Abdouraman.

Journalist Jean-Claude Mbede hails the Indomitable Lions’ bravery in a difficult context. “Well done Lions. 4 points out of 6. Their determination and courage. It was a real treat! Thank you, I haven’t felt like that since 2017. Now let’s get back to order and re-establish the authority of the State, peacefully or otherwise”.

Journalist Guibai Gatama echoed his sentiments: “4 points from two games. Let’s let the coach work in good conditions. There is hope and potential in this Indomitable Lions team,” comments the former member of the Executive Committee of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot).

Some, like Crtv journalist Gaelle Moudio Ndedi, expressed their worries. “The euphoria of the changes has passed, and our shortcomings and our real level have reappeared. The make-up has run off,” she laments.

Patrick Duprix Anicet Mani, a member of the Cameroon People Democratic Movement (CPDM), thinks otherwise. “The group is solid in human terms, and the coach is well in place. The Lions have yet to beat the Angolans at home. We expect them to finish the job in Yaoundé. Well done, Marc Brys’ young wildcats,” he commented.

“Some people were waiting for the Lions to lose tonight to prove that we were wrong to see a revival in the national team under Marc Brys. Some kept our publications captive to make us swallow our words when we said that this team, without the influence of the president of the federation, would fare better. We don’t blame them. They cannot anticipate what we perceive. They are ‘fanatical fans’ who react with insults when we try to give a point of view on a subject we know better than they do,” explains Christel Léger Tientcheu.

“And the thing about a fanatic is that he won’t change. They persist in their stupidity. They don’t understand that the national team doesn’t belong to someone, even if he is president of the federation. The Indomitable Lions are still our pride and joy, and entrusting them to inexperienced hands would be dangerous. Action had to be taken, and it has been. The results are starting to show. Let’s maintain this state of mind and this environment around the team. Qualification for the next World Cup is within reach,” concludes the 45fois2 journalist.
