2026 World Cup qualifiers: Angola overtakes Cameroon

On Friday, Angola played Eswatini at the Stade du 11 novembre on day 3 of the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in Africa. The match ended in a 1-0 victory for Angola.

Day 3 of the African Zone 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Group D pitted Angola against Eswatini. After two consecutive draws, the Palancas Negras beat Eswatini 1-0 on Friday.

The Angolans opened the scoring very early on in the match, in the 2nd minute of the first half. The Sihlangu Semnikati’s low block kept the Angolans at bay, and by the end of the game they were content with a 1-0 score.

This first victory for the Palancas Negras means that Angola move ahead of Cameroon and up to 2nd place with 5 points behind Libya, who lead Group D with 7 points. Eswatini remain stuck in last place after losing 03 games.

Cameroon will travel to Angola on 11 June for the 4th day of World Cup qualifiers in the African zone, after the match against Cape Verde scheduled for 8 June at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium at 2pm.
